They Came to Cordura (DVD)
In 1916, as U.S. soldiers waged war against Pancho Villa's Mexican troops, Army Major Thomas Thorn (Gary Cooper) is assigned to lead five soldiers and a traitorous female prisoner (Rita Hayworth) to safety in the Texas town of Cordura. This seemingly simple task becomes increasingly complex , however, as the incessant squabbling between Thorn, whose record is marred by a past indiscretion, and the five men (all potential Congressional Medal of Honor winners) threatens to destroy them all.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Widescreen - 2.35Audio: Dolby Digital -

Director Richie Devaney's first feature film, based on the life of co-writer Thomas Guiffre, is a gritty foray into the hard-knock life of Brooklyn's East New York. Sean is a drug dealer with a heart of gold, making money the only way he can, so that he can afford his sick mother's medical care and to keep his kid brother off the street. This precarious way of life is further jeopardized when he is forced to take on a friend's debt, while his mother's condition worsens. Turning the camera onto a side of New York City that is rarely seen onscreen, the humane characterization and tragic drama of Sean's situation mirrors that of countless poor, disenfranchised young people, forced by their environments into a life of crime.
