SABATA: Perennial villain Lee Van Cleef plays one of his rare good-guy roles in this campy, classic spaghetti outing from Gianfranco Parolini. When a group of supposedly upstanding citizens rob an Army safe in order to buy land for a railroad, trickster Sabata is on hand with his infallible aim. Determined to steal back the load of gold that McIntock stole from him, Sabata gathers his gang and makes his attack.

BONANZA is a sprawling western television series about wealthy rancher Ben Cartwright and his three sons---Adam (Pernell Roberts), a two-fisted gunfighter with a penchant for design and engineering; Hoss (Dan Blocker), a huge and slightly dimwitted but good-hearted strongman in a big white ten-gallon hat; and Little Joe (Michael Landon, later of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE), a young hothead always getting into trouble over women or disputes of any imaginable description with almost anybody. Like all 1950s TV western series leads, the Cartwrights were superb fistfighters, able to knock almost anyone unconscious with a single blow from either fist. Ben had the enviable advantage of having apparently been everywhere and done everything prior to settling down on his thousand-acre empire (the Ponderosa) outside Virginia City, Nevada, so he could always speak from an intimidating reservoir of experience. In Andre de Toth's rough and tumble Western, Kirk Douglas stars as Johnny Hawks, a cocky, brash cowboy notorious as the Indian fighter throughout the Oregon territories. Captain Trask (Walter Abel), commander of the local fort, calls in Hawks due to trouble with the neighboring Sioux tribe, lead by Chief Red Cloud (Eduard Franz). Hawks visits the Chief to threaten and cajole for peace, and falls for his striking daughter, Onahti (Elsa Martinelli), who resists Hawks' lusty advances. Tensions mount when gold-hungry settlers Chivington (Lon Chaney) and Wes Todd (Walter Matthau), enrage the Chief's brother, Grey Wolf (Harry Landers), by attempting to trade whiskey for the Indian's gold. Hawks must broker a peace treaty, however, so the Sioux will allow a wagon train to pass through their land unharmed. Hawks accompanies the wagon train by the side of widowed mother, Susan Rogers (Diana Douglas), who hopes Johnny will marry her. Hawks, however, is preoccupied with his love for Onahti and with Chivington and Todd's dangerous quest to locate the Sioux gold.
