In 1916, as U.S. soldiers waged war against Pancho Villa's Mexican troops, Army Major Thomas Thorn (Gary Cooper) is assigned to lead five soldiers and a traitorous female prisoner (Rita Hayworth) to safety in the Texas town of Cordura.
