A film based on the wildly popular family TV show of the same name, which aired for 12 years and depicted a widowed father and his three sons as they maintained and defended their ranch, BONANZA is a meaningful, dramatic Western with a message. The Ponderosa is now run by the grown offspring of the Cartwright children, who maintain the sanctity of their home and the honor and moral character of the Cartwright name. A subplot follows Benjamin's romance with neighboring farmgirl Anny; he wants to marry her, but she wants to travel to Paris to pursue a career as a piano player.
